An idea. A connection.

Create a QR code for a location and directions

The Location type stores latitude and longitude in a geo address. Compatible scanners can open a map app. To open a particular map website, use its web address with the Website type instead.

Example coordinates in Berlin. Your map app determines how the location opens.

For an event, mark the visitor entrance rather than the middle of a large site. Print the street address and a short note about the correct gate next to the code.

Choose coordinates or a map link

Check the order: latitude first, longitude second. Latitude ranges from −90 to 90 and longitude from −180 to 180. Inspect the point on a map; swapped but formally valid numbers can identify a different place.

A geo address does not choose the map app. The device determines which app opens and whether it uses the label. For a Google Maps web link, use a checked coordinate search URL and encode it as a website code.

Test the real arrival route

A point describes a location, not a guaranteed approach. Buildings can have several entrances, and the shortest route may use private paths. Test arrival with the intended transport mode and add readable notes about the entrance, parking or accessible access.

The code stores the chosen destination; it does not automatically track the person scanning it. The map app processes its own usage data and may request location permission for navigation. Maps and routes may require a connection or previously downloaded offline data.

How it works

  1. 01

Identify the usable meeting point and copy its checked coordinates.

  2. 02

Choose Location for a geo address or Website for a particular map web link.

  3. 03

Scan on several devices, verify the map point and also print the address as text.

What to keep in mind

A static location code keeps its original coordinates. For changing meeting points, use an editable destination page. Places already imported or saved do not change as a result.

Frequently asked questions

Does navigation start immediately after scanning?
Not necessarily. The scanner and map app determine the action. Often a point or search view appears first.
Can I share a private meeting point confidentially?
Anyone with the QR image can decode its coordinates. Share a confidential location only with the intended people.
