Step by step
Change a QR code destination after printing
You can change a destination when the printed QR contains a redirect that you control. In QRinio, open the saved resource and edit its target. A static code containing another address cannot be rewritten remotely; only the content served at that existing address can change.
Updated:
example.com
Illustrative address: qr.example.com/r/summer. The printed address stays the same when its destination changes; this example domain is not connected.
Find the existing record that matches the print
Compare the address read from the printed code with the one in your account. Creating another code with the same name does not replace it. For a record in a workspace, you need editing permission there. Choosing a new default domain does not change existing printed codes either.
Check the actual request after saving
Open the same printed address in a new private browser window. A destination page already open in a tab will not refresh itself after the change. Also check scheduled destinations, expiry, archive status and publication for hosted pages.
If a teammate saved changes in the meantime, reload the current version and review it before trying again. After restoring a version from history, check the destination and publication status again as well.
How it works
- 01
Scan the old print and identify the saved resource and its current redirect address.
- 02
Edit the target in your account, review any active schedule and save the current revision.
- 03
Scan the same print again and confirm the final page in a fresh browser session.
What to keep in mind
Do not delete and recreate the resource just to change its destination. A new resource may have a different address. Changes made by teammates can require reloading the latest revision before saving.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I undo a change?
- The resource history keeps up to 50 versions. Restore an available version and test again; retained versions and linked files can continue using storage.
- Do I need to download the code again after changing its destination?
- Not if the redirect address stays the same. Test the existing print. A download is only needed if you want a new image file or a different design.
